Alberta Beef Producers Response to the Draft South Saskatchewan Regional Plan

Vision for the Region

Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) believes that the vision for the region expressed in the draft South Saskatchewan Regional Plan (SSRP) is lofty, but laudable. We support the vision of a region that is prosperous and thriving with a commitment to achieving economic, environmental and social outcomes. Reaching this vision will require a greater degree of alignment and cooperation among Government of Alberta ministries than we are currently seeing.

Economic Growth

ABP certainly supports the outcome that the region’s economy is growing and diversified. In our view, economic growth should have been one of the strategic directions in the SSRP, but we were pleased to see it identified in the outcomes. ABP has always sought a policy and business climate that attracts investment and promotes growth and diversification of all resource-based industries.
